Eat, Explore, Experience Marbella

The Costa del Sol is well-deserving of its name as it gets around 320 days of sun every year! The 100-mile coastline has everything you need to make the most of the fabulous weather. The Costa del Sol is located in Andalucia, a region steeping in history, tradition and charm. From tapas and wine to flamenco and festivals you can immerse yourself in the Spanish spirit.

Both of our properties are located close to San Pedro and Puerto Banús, in between Marbella and Estepona. You can enjoy a stroll through Marbella old town or visit Estepona with its palm-lined promenade and long beaches. There is so much to do in the Costa del Sol region you will be spoilt for choice!

Places To Eat & Drink

In Marbella there are plenty of great restaurants including Caperuza Bistro offering delicious modern cuisine, Restaurante Conmpasión serving up the perfect balance between innovation and tradition. Plus one of our favourites Casanis Bistro offering exquisite cuisine in the heart of the old town. Los Mellizos is an excellent fish restaurant, offering great paella!

Heading down the coastline to Puerto Banús, you might want to try Los Bandidos, which overlooks the marina and offers excellent food and a great atmosphere. In the neighbouring town of San Pedro why not visit el Asador, a superb steak house, just a few minutes’ walk from Apartment Casa Orquidea.

Further down the coastline in Estepona you can enjoy wonderful wine tapas whilst you soak up the atmosphere at Casa del Rey a tapas bar, with excellent food and an extensive wine list, situated in a 200 year old house and courtyard.

If you are heading inland and visiting Casares we recommend you try Arroyo Hondo which offers Mediterranean food with an Asian twist and great Sunday lunches or Venta Garcia where you can enjoy dining on the terrace.

In the mountains of Andalusia, why not visit Gaucin? We suggest a meal in La Fructuosa which hosts regular live music nights, or El Atico offering great food and amazing views.

Shopping

If you fancy some retail therapy, La Cañada is a large out of town shopping centre with a cinema and entertainment complex just outside Marbella. Home to 150 shops, it is the largest shopping centre on Costa del Sol. In the centre of Málaga you can visit Calle Larios, a wide pedestrianised shopping boulevard with a great mix of shops and tapas bars.

Seeking designer labels? Puerto Banús is a must, with lots of chic designer boutiques located around the luxury marina. It is a playground for the super rich so it’s a great place to people watch!

For a more traditional Spanish shopping experience, local markets are held in most towns across the Costa del Sol selling clothes, locally made crafts and produce.

Explore Marbella

Málaga is the capital of Costa del Sol and the birthplace of Pueblo Picasso, so we highly recommend you pay it a visit during your stay. For culture vultures, don’t miss the stunning cathedral and the Carmen Thyssen Museum, an art gallery that mainly focuses on 19th century Spanish paintings. The Alcazaba de Malaga is one of the city’s most historic monuments dating back to the 11th century. Next to the Alcazaba is the Teatro Romano, a spectacular roman theatre, dating back to Augustus. After all that history, relax in the beautiful gardens of Jardin Botánico-Histórico La Concepció, where you will see an extensive collection of exotic Mediterranean plants and flowers.

You can spend a pleasant afternoon pottering around the quaint old towns of Marbella and Estepona. You can easily find somewhere to sit outside and enjoy a drink and sample some tapas, whilst watching the world go by. In Marbella don’t miss the famous ‘Plaza de los Naranjos’ – Orange Square, lined with orange trees. In Estepona why not enjoy a cocktail on the harbour front and watch the sunset behind the yachts.

Rhonda, a mountaintop city in the Málaga province, is only an hour’s drive away from Parque Los Olivos Apartment and Apartment Casa Orquidea. Wine enthusiasts will enjoy a tour of the region. Rootz Wine Tours offer various tours around the region.

There are many beautiful white washed villages to visit on the Costa del Sol, where you can soak up a truly Spanish ambience. We love Mijas Pueblo, where you can visit the Mayan Monkey Mijas Chocolate Factory and try making some chocolates. Casares is well worth a visit where you can wander around the pretty town or hike in the surrounding countryside. In Gaucin we recommend you pay a visit to the castle, Castillo del Aguila where you will get amazing views if you climb to the top!

Plenty of festivals and fiestas take place on the Costa del Sol during the summer months. You can expect lively celebrations including fireworks and dancing. Find out what’s going on when you visit here.

Costa Del Sol Beaches

With 100 miles of coastline to explore and beaches to discover it’s hard to know where to begin! We highlighted the beaches that are closest to our apartments, but of course, there are many more worth visiting.

San Pedro de Alcántara is a blue flag beach and well maintained. It also has a unique eucalyptus grove that nearly reaches the sea! With plenty of chiringuito beach bars and a promenade lined with palm trees, you can relax here all day and night.

Saladillo is a vast beach just a few kilometres from Estepona and is a very family-friendly beach with great amenities including toilets, showers, bars and restaurants.

Puerto Banús beach is one of the most glamorous in the region located between the marina and the mouth of the Rio Verde, so it’s also known as the Rio Verde beach. With golden sands and all the amenities you could wish for, this is another blue flag beach you will want to visit again and again.

Costa Del Sol Golf Courses

The Costa del Sol is famous for its golf course and it’s easy to see why. There are over 70 golf courses along the coastline between Torre del Mar and Sotogrande so you won’t be short of choice!

We’ve highlighted the ones nearest to Parque Los Olivos Apartment and Apartment Casa Orquidea. Guadalmina Golf Club is the second oldest golf club in the Costa del Sol. El Parasio is one of the most established courses on the Costa del Sol and you can enjoy a round of golf with the majestic backdrop of La Concha mountain. Atalaya Golf Course has wide fairways and large elevated greens and provides a challenge whatever your level, and again offers fabulous views of the magnificent La Concha mountain.
